Mariner of the Seas: Big yet Comfortable

Another of the Royal Caribbean International's Voyager-class cruise ship is the Mariner of the Seas. This ship is counted among the largest ships in the world. Since 2003, this cruise ship has been sailing to Rome, Civitavecchia, Italy, Greece, Isreal, and Turkey.

The instrinsic features that makes this ship special are :
  • This ship has two alternative restaurants
  • A vintage wine bar
  • Instead of on the inside, the balconies on this ship are on the outside giving them more light and less of a caged-in appearance.
  • The Windjammer Café is comparatively larger than the other voyager ships
  • Its unique design doesn't give the passengers a feeling of being in a too large ship.

Features and requirements of Mariner of the Seas

Dress codes

Passengers move around in casual attire during the day. There is one "smart casual" night where you will see men in jackets and ties and women in pantsuits or dresses, and two formal nights where the women are seen in cocktail dresses and men mostly in suits than tuxedoes. These dress codes are for dining in the ship's main restaurants. But if you are looking for other dress options to enjoy your dinner, the dress is always smart casual. If you have an inclination for casual dress code, the Windjammer buffet will help you out as casual is the norm here.

Passengers are free to choose between early (6 p.m.) and late dinner (8:30 p.m.) or " My Time" dinning for dinner. The restaurants offer free-seating arrangements during breakfast and lunch. The menu includes vegetarian dishes with an Indian vegetarian dish at times, and standard entrees like Atlantic cod, black angus top sirloin, marinara sauce, and chicken breast. There is also the salad bar where chefs conjure up salads based on your instructions. The buffet restaurant of Mariner of the Seas, Windjammer is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

There are so many activities onboard that it is really difficult to have nothing to do on the ship. During the day you can enjoy dance classes, bingo, horse racing, art and craft workshops, art auctions, different contests like Mr. Sexy legs, films, and bridge pairing. For those who thirst for more there is the "Ice under the Big Top" ice skating show and the rock-climbing feature as well.

All through the day and night some type of performance is always going on along the Promenade. Night is party time that also showcases production shows and many audience-participating programs like auditions for songs, etc. You will also hear different music like jazz, pop, and rock classics. You can also get engaged in karaoke competitions. Apart from these there is also the Latino dance music to sway your hips and throw in some steps.

Shore excursions include snorkeling, golfing, sport-fishing, sightseeing, Mexican cooking classes, beach breaks, etc.
